The Hairy Hound Salon – Terms and Conditions

  • You warrant that your dog is fit and healthy. You must advise me prior to your appointment if your dog has any medical conditions, is taking medication prescribed by a vet and any other information which could help me provide a stress free dog grooming service for your dog.

  • The grooming of elderly dogs is undertaken entirely at the owners risk.

  • Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that we cannot be held liable for.

  • The dog owners should maintain their dog’s coat in between regular grooming appointments (every 4-12 weeks).  Dogs with extremely matted/neglected coats will be charged extra.

  • I photograph and/or video every case of neglect brought for grooming and also save a sample of fur. We reserve the right to use these items as we deem appropriate.

  • If we feel that de-matting your dog would cause too much stress and discomfort we may recommend a complete clip down. This will dramatically change your dog’s appearance as their hair will be short and close to the skin. A complete clip down may expose pre-existing skin conditions such as hotspots, sores, parasite infestation, urine and faeces scalding, fungal, bacterial and yeast infections. If these are detected we would recommend you seek immediate advice from your vet.

  • We will not force any procedure on your dog, therefore if your dog objects to any part of the groom that part will not be performed. Price reductions will not be offered for incomplete grooms due to the dogs behaviour. We will offer help/advice in an attempt to overcome your dogs fear to work towards a full groom. Under no circumstances do we accept sedated dogs.

  • Our first concern is for the welfare of your dog so in the event of injury or illness we may call a vet and unless it can be clearly shown that we are liable, all costs in connection with and in the carrying out of this instruction shall be at the owners expense. We therefore recommend you take out adequate dog Insurance.

  • Please make sure your dog has been toileted before bringing them to the salon. A dog with a stomach full of food and a full bowel/bladder will find the grooming process very uncomfortable. Please clean up after your dog on site.

  • Payment must be made on completion of the dog grooming procedure. Cash and cheque are accepted. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, please make the payment before collecting your dog.

  • Once an appointment has been made if you wish to cancel/rearrange it you must give at least 24 hours notice. If you give less notice than this and the slot cannot be filled you will be charged 50% of the full grooming price per dog.

  • You need to drop off/collect your dogs at the agreed time.  Arriving late for your appointment may mean that we cannot complete the groom in the time left.  The owner is still responsible for paying the full charge for the appointment.  Collecting your dog later than arranged may incur a pet sitting charge.
